BRAC Bank PLC has extended financing support to Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd, also known as SK+F, to expand its insulin production capacity.
As part of the expansion, Eskayef is establishing a third insulin vial production line to enhance production capacity and meet growing demand at home and abroad, said a press release on Saturday.
Eskayef, one of Bangladesh’s leading pharmaceutical companies, has been manufacturing insulin through its long-standing partnership with Danish multinational pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, described in the press release as the world’s leading insulin producer.
The partnership has enabled Eskayef to produce insulin in both vial and Penfill formats.
The expansion is expected to contribute to greater availability of insulin while strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity for an essential medicine. Increased local production can also help reduce import dependency and strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a pharmaceutical manufacturing and exporting hub, the source said.
