HBO is already developing the second season of its highly anticipated ‘Harry Potter’ TV series. The news was confirmed by Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO.
“Our goal is to avoid a long gap between seasons, especially since the actors are still growing,” Bloys said. “It will not be an annual series as the show is too big, but they are writing season two now.”
The series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The ensemble also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, among others.
Following J.K. Rowling’s novels closely, the first season adapts ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone’, with key moments including Harry receiving his Hogwarts letter, meeting Ron on the Hogwarts Express and unwrapping a Quidditch broomstick. Fans also catch glimpses of iconic characters such as Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy, Ollivander and the Sorting Hat.
Filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, the series is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and ‘Succession’ director Mark Mylod.
Executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman.
