Savar’s notorious serial killer Mashiur Rahman Khan Samrat alias ‘Psycho Samrat’ alias Sabuj Sheikh has died.
He reportedly fell ill while in prison and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Savar Model Police Station Police Inspector (Operations) Md Helal Uddin, stated that it is initially suspected the deceased died of a heart attack. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is available.
According to police information, Samrat was involved in seven murders in the Savar area within a span of six months. He faced allegations of luring multiple individuals to an abandoned community centre in the Savar municipality area to kill them.
The police initially detained Samrat on 18 January from the front of the police station. He was subsequently shown arrested in connection with the recovery of two charred bodies, including that of a teenage girl, found inside an abandoned building of the Savar municipal community centre.
