,A man was hacked to death in the Shantibagh area of Dhaka following a dispute regarding drug consumption.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Camp In-Charge Inspector Md Faruk confirmed the matter. The deceased has been identified as Sekendar Ali. Doctors pronounced him dead after relatives brought him in critical condition at around 2am on Tuesday.
According to his brother, Amir Ali, several individuals – including Mamun, alias Bullet Mamun, Akishon, and Hannan – attacked Sekendar with sharp weapons at around 11pm. Upon receiving the news, relatives found him in a bloodied state and rushed him to the hospital.
Relatives have alleged that the assailants are identified drug dealers in the locality. Sekendar had obstructed them from consuming drugs on several previous occasions. On Monday, Mamun and his associates were searching for Sekendar to attack him. They eventually found him alone at night, hacked him repeatedly, and left him at the scene.
Inspector Faruk noted that the victim sustained sharp weapon injuries to his head and various other parts of his body. Shahjahanpur Police Station is investigating the incident.
