A 65‑year‑old man was killed after being struck by a battery‑run easy bike in the Alukdia Market area of Chuadanga Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased, Abdul Kader Malita, was a resident of Chokpara in Alukdia village. He was a wood trader by profession and the father of three.
According to police and local sources, the accident occurred around dawn while Kader was returning home after performing Fajr prayers at a local mosque.
As he was crossing the road, the easy bike hit him, leaving him injured. The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Al Belal, a member of Alukdia Union Parishad (UP), said locals rescued the victim and took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where he died shortly after while undergoing treatment.
Manjarul Islam, sub‑inspector (SI) of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said the victim’s family has not yet filed a formal complaint. He added that further legal action will be taken following directives from higher authorities.
