Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani has continued his scintillating form at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, guiding his side to an unbeaten run in the group stage and drawing praise from former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif.
Muzarabani has been the driving force behind Zimbabwe’s surge to the Super Eight stage, claiming nine wickets in three matches at an economy rate of under six runs per over. Only United States pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk, with 12 wickets, has outshone him in the tournament so far.
Against Oman, Muzarabani produced a stunning spell, taking three wickets for just 16 runs. He followed that with an even more memorable performance against Australia, snaring four wickets for only 17 runs and earning the player of the match award in both games.
Zimbabwe closed the group stage with a victory over Sri Lanka in Colombo, where Muzarabani took two wickets, slightly more expensive than in previous matches but maintaining his excellent form.
Despite his World Cup heroics, Muzarabani has limited IPL exposure. He has never been selected in the main auction, though he was once a net bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants and temporarily joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi.
Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif highlighted Muzarabani’s potential on his YouTube channel, stating that if the 2026 IPL auction had taken place after the World Cup, franchises would have fiercely competed for the Zimbabwean pacer. “Blessing Muzarabani is an exceptional bowler. Standing 6 feet 8 inches, his height gives him a natural advantage. He bowls with pace and variation at every stage. Based on his current form, he would have fetched at least 20 crore rupees,” Kaif said.
Zimbabwe, who missed the previous World Cup after failing to qualify, have shown a new, dominant side in this tournament. They remain unbeaten in the main stage, topping Group A to secure a place in the Super Eight.
Kaif praised their remarkable performances, particularly the wins over Australia and Sri Lanka. “Defeating Australia is no small feat, and to follow that with a win in Sri Lanka, on their home turf and a slow pitch where Pakistan struggled to chase 176, is highly impressive. Zimbabwe successfully chased 179, showing their adaptability to tough conditions,” he added.
In Super Eight Group A, Zimbabwe will face the Caribbean side led by Sikandar Raza on Monday. They will also meet India, South Africa, and West Indies
