Bangladesh’s capital market closed higher on Monday, with both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) showing notable gains amid increased turnover and widespread price appreciation.

At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index rose by 82 points, while the Shariah-based DSES gained 11 points, and the blue-chip DS30 added 33 points.

A majority of stocks saw price increases, with 327 companies advancing, 37 declining, and 33 remaining unchanged. Turnover at the DSE surged by approximately Tk168 crore, reaching Tk646 crore, up from Tk478 crore in the previous session.

In the block market, shares of 27 companies worth Tk 22 crore were traded, with Asiatic Laboratories Limited leading turnover with Tk5 crore.

Sharp Industries PLC was the top gainer on the DSE, with a near 10 per cent rise, while Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC was the worst performer, dropping around 7 per cent.

At the CSE, the broad-based CASPI index climbed 109 points. Of the traded issues, 130 advanced, 41 declined, and 21 remained unchanged. Turnover at the CSE increased to Tk8 crore, up from Tk6 crore.

AFC Agro Biotech Limited led the gainers at the CSE, with a 10 per cent price increase, while Northern Islami Insurance PLC was the worst performer, losing 10 per cent.
