Walton, Bangladesh’s largest air-conditioner brand, has launched a new Smart AC it describes as the world’s most feature-rich model, integrating a wide range of Internet of Things and artificial intelligence technologies developed in-house.
The new model was unveiled at a ceremony at Walton Corporate Office in the capital by Bangladesh national cricket team fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, Walton AC brand ambassador. The event was attended by Tanvir Rahman Walton AC Chief Business Officer Md Tanvir Rahman, Ariful Islam Head of Walton Residential AC Research and Innovation Centre Engineer Ariful Islam, and other senior officials.
Walton said the new Smart AC incorporates advanced features invented by its own research and innovation teams, including Smart AI, AI Doctor, offline voice control, humidity monitoring and solar hybrid operation. The company said the product reflects its push to make air conditioning more comfortable, intelligent and energy-efficient.
Speaking at the launch, Tanvir Rahman said Walton is continuously adding advanced smart features to its air conditioners to enhance user experience and efficiency. He said the new model integrates multiple AI-based functions and controls, along with solar hybrid technology, humidity monitoring and offline voice control, all developed locally by Walton’s AC R&I team.
Rahman added that several technologies developed by Walton have received patent certification, strengthening the brand’s value at home and abroad and improving its competitiveness in international markets. He said the launch demonstrated Bangladesh’s ability to manufacture innovative, high-technology smart products.
Ariful Islam said Walton’s in-house innovations — including offline voice control, iconic display, intelligent inverter and AI Doctor — have received patent certification from the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks under the Ministry of Industries. He said the certification followed evaluation of novelty, innovative structure, real-world applicability and industrial potential, and recognises Walton’s exclusive commercial rights to the technologies.
Jewel Rana Walton AC Electrical and Electronics Design In-Charge Md Jewel Rana said the solar hybrid feature allows the unit to run primarily on solar power during the day, shifting to hybrid mode if solar generation is insufficient and using grid electricity as needed. At night, the unit can operate via battery-supported solar power or directly from the grid, reducing overall electricity consumption.
The new model includes offline voice control that works without an internet connection, an iconic display showing operating status, power use and error information, and mobile app control for monitoring and configuration. Additional features include iFeel, Air Quality Index and Filter Clean Alert, Frost Clean, Air Plasma and 3-in-1 Converter mode technology. The AC uses R-32 refrigerant, recognised as environmentally friendly, and is released only after quality certification from international testing lab NUSDAT-UTS.
