Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said that the announcement of results for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election may be slightly delayed.
He said this at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday after a meeting on election-centered law and order presided over by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the public vote on the implementation of the July National Charter.
Shafiqul Alam said, “It was informed at the meeting that vote counting may be slightly delayed this time. Often, when vote counting is delayed, rumors spread. This is because, this time, it’s not only an election, but there is also a public vote alongside it. Consequently, two types of votes have to be counted together. Along with that, there are postal ballots. For this reason, vote counting may be delayed in some cases.”
Citing the Election Commission secretary, Shafiqul said, “The complications regarding Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 have been resolved. Therefore, elections will be held in all 300 seats on 12 February. Printing of ballot papers will start from midnight tonight.”
