The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division has filed 4,500 cases against individuals for violating laws during raids conducted in various areas of the capital. These enforcement measures were carried out over the course of last Thursday and Friday.
According to sources within the DMP, the Traffic-Motijheel Division recorded a total of 480 cases, which included 31 buses, two trucks, 24 covered vans, 89 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 285 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the Traffic-Wari Division filed 1,397 cases, involving 129 buses, 155 trucks, 145 covered vans, 174 CNGs, and 558 motorcycles.
The crackdown extended across other zones, with the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filing 289 cases, the Traffic-Mirpur Division registering 1,305 cases, and the Traffic-Gulshan Division filing 351 cases.
Additionally, the Traffic-Ramna Division and Traffic-Lalbagh Division recorded 198 and 247 cases, respectively.
During these operations, the authorities also dumped 665 vehicles and wrecked 213 others. The DMP Traffic Division has stated that these operations will continue to ensure traffic discipline is maintained within the Dhaka metropolitan area.
