Screenings at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) have been temporarily halted during the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF), with organisers confirming that all shows scheduled for today at the venue have been postponed.
Festival authorities said the decision was taken due to a prior commitment at the National Art Gallery Auditorium, where BSA is hosting its own event. As a result, no DIFF screenings will take place at the auditorium today, though the programme is expected to resume there from tomorrow.
Five films had been lined up for screening at the venue, including ‘Dinosaur’s Egg’, ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’, ‘Odyssey of Joy’, ‘Dying for Dummies’ and ‘The Story of a Rock’. The organisers issued an apology to audiences for the inconvenience caused.
Screenings at the festival’s other venues will continue as planned. These include the main auditorium and Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium at the National Museum, the Alliance Française de Dhaka auditorium and Stamford University Bangladesh.
Now in its 24th edition, the DIFF opened on January 10 and is showcasing 245 films from 91 countries. The festival is set to conclude on January 18.
