Gulzar Ahmed, Honourable Director of Standard Bank PLC and head of the renowned jewellery company Apan Jewellers, has been elected Vice Chairman of the Bank at the 421st meeting of the Board of Directors held on Wednesday.
Born into a respected Muslim family in Golapganj Upazila of Sylhet district, Ahmed took over his family business, Apan Jewellers, after completing his education. Under his leadership, the Apan family has established nine jewellery showrooms across Dhaka. according to a press release.
A prominent business personality, Ahmed has built a 44-year illustrious career marked by honesty, dedication, and professionalism. He has also served as Acting President of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) for an extended period.
In addition, he holds several key positions, including Chairman of Unique Gold Private Limited, First Vice President of the Bangladesh Jewellery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BJMEA), Member of the General Body of FBCCI, Member of the Executive Council of Baitul Mukarram Business Group, Chief Advisor of Apanscape, and Advisor of the Gulshan DNCC Market Committee. He is also the former President of Baitul Mukarram Business Group.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ahmed actively participates in various socio-cultural organisations, reflecting his commitment to community development and social responsibility.
