A young man was killed and two others were critically injured in a cocktail explosion while allegedly making bombs in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur district early Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Sohan Bepari, son of Delwar Bepari from the Cherag Ali Bepari Kandi area in the upazila.
The injured individuals were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The explosion took place around 3:30 a.m. in an abandoned room of a house owned by Nurul Islam Bepari in Bilaspur Union, near the residence of Bilaspur Union Chairman Kuddus Bepari.
According to Md Saleh Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Jajira Police Station, a group of people was reportedly making crude bombs when the explosion occurred.
Police later recovered Sohan Bepari’s dismembered body from a nearby field, a few yards from the blast site.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
