A youth has been killed in a cocktail explosion in Moghbazar, Dhaka. Another person was seriously injured in this incident.
At approximately 7pm hours, miscreants threw cocktails from a flyover onto the main road adjacent to the Assemblies of God (AG) Church located at 401/1, New Eskaton, under Hatirjheel Police Station.
Police are currently at the scene.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division, Masud Alam, said that a powerful cocktail from the flyover was thrown. It is suspected that the cocktail fell directly on the head of the deceased.
The youth died on the spot.
The inspector (operations) said the name of the deceased is Siam Majumdar. According to police, his skull has been blown away as a result of the explosion.
He had gone to the scene to fetch snacks from the store.
Siam’s body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. Hatirjheel Thana police sent the body to the morgue around 8:30pm on Wednesday.
Hatirjheel Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Saidur Rahman informed that Siam Majumdar (21) is from the Colony area of Dighalia upazila in Khulna. His father’s name is Ali Akbar. He lives with his family in New Eskaton.
His autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Thursday.
The deceased Siam’s coworker Ahidul Howladar said Siam was an employee of Zahid Car Decoration in New Eskaton. He had been working there for the last 3-4 years.
Around 6:30, after finishing work at the shop, Siam went out to have tea. He was going to come back after having tea. About half an hour later, a few people came to the shop and informed them that their employee Siam had died. His body was lying on the road. They immediately went from the shop to the scene and saw Siam’s bloody dead body.
Ahidul further informed that Siam was unmarried and that his father drives a CNG auto-rickshaw.
