Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) Chief Operating Officer Mahbub Ahmed Siddique has been selected as a member of the Professional Accountancy Organization Development and Advisory Group (PAODAG) of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) for the 2026–2028 term.
The appointment marks the first time a professional from Bangladesh has been selected to the IFAC advisory group, said ICAB.
He was chosen through a rigorous global selection process conducted by the IFAC Nominating Committee.
As a PAODAG member, he will provide strategic guidance and practical support to professional accountancy organisations worldwide, with a focus on strengthening sustainability, institutional capacity and public interest outcomes.
The selection reflects international recognition of his professional experience and expertise and also elevates ICAB’s standing on global platforms, the institute said in a statement.
Besides his role at ICAB, he is currently serving as assistant executive secretary of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for 2025, following nomination by ICAB.
He is set to assume the role of executive secretary of SAFA in 2026.
He also serves as an ICAB-nominated director at SAFA Foundation and as marketing director of Chartered Accountants Worldwide.
