Sylhet Titans captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said on Monday that the franchise’s local players are well equipped to perform in the Bangladesh Premier League, expressing confidence in the balance and depth of his squad ahead of the new season.
Speaking to reporters at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium’s Ground 2, Miraz praised the quality of the domestic contingent, pointing to the presence of several established and in-form Bangladeshi players in the side.
“The team combination is very good,” Miraz said. “If you look at the Sylhet players, they are top players and they are in the Sylhet team. Nasum, for example, how he plays T20 for Bangladesh, now he is playing for Sylhet. Khaled, Ebadot and others, everyone is in very good shape. Those who are playing T20, like Emon and a few other players, are also here. I feel the local players are very good.”
Miraz also highlighted the importance of the tournament for all-rounder Afif Hossain, suggesting the BPL could offer a pathway back to the national side.
“At one time in Bangladesh, Afif was called the best T20 player,” he said. “But somehow he has been a bit missing. I think this tournament could be a good start for him. If he performs here, getting back into the national team could become easy for him.”
The Sylhet captain was equally positive about wicketkeeper-batter Zakir Hasan, praising his approach and work ethic in training.
“Zakir Hasan has played for the Bangladesh team, and I have seen how he practices and how he intends to score runs,” Miraz said. “I liked these things about him. Every player wants to perform in this tournament, and everyone has that activeness inside.”
Miraz added that the franchise is expecting its overseas players to begin arriving from Tuesday, with the full squad likely to assemble within the next two days.
“Everyone will come from tomorrow, and I hope that within the next two days, all will join the team,” he said.
