The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has provided an exemption on excise duty for the air tickets of Hajj pilgrims for the upcoming season.
Each pilgrim performing Hajj can save about Tk5,000 on the cost of round-trip air tickets to Saudi Arabia.
A gazette notification was issued in this regard recently.
In the notification, the NBR said the government has taken the initiative to make its efforts to reduce Hajj expenses successful and to fulfill the aspirations of devout people to perform Hajj.
