Miscreants killed a top-listed criminal in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Fakhrul Islam Manju alias Bali, 25, police said.
Begumganj Model Police Station’s Officer-in-charge MR Bari said the incident took place in Ward-1 of Hajipur union of the upazila.
Fakhrul was a top-listed criminal as he was accused in five cases including murder and extortion. An arrest warrant had been issued earlier for him, OC Bari said.
Witnesses said Manju was standing in front of Manda’s house in the South Hajipur area. At that time, a group of unidentified criminals launched an attack on him. They killed him and fled the scene. Later, upon receiving the news, police rushed to the spot.
The OC also said an investigation is underway to uncover who carried out the killing and for what reason.
