SMC Enterprise Ltd has held its annual sales conference for the 2024–2025 financial year in Cox’s Bazar, recognising the achievements of its sales team and outlining strategic directions for future growth.
The day-long event took place on Thursday at a hotel in the coastal city, where senior officials reviewed performance milestones and discussed plans to strengthen nationwide sales and distribution.
According to the organisers, SMC has been working for five decades to improve the quality of life for people across Bangladesh. The organisation has earned global recognition for its contributions to population control and the prevention of diarrhoeal epidemics, establishing itself as one of the world’s most successful social marketing institutions.
They noted that more than one-third of total contraceptive users in the country currently rely on SMC products. SMC is also the world’s largest producer of oral rehydration saline.
Speaking as the chief guest, SMC Chairman Faruque Ahmed said the organisation’s core goal is to enhance people’s wellbeing and build a self-sustaining institution. “Achieving this requires an effective sales and distribution network so that products reach every corner of the country,” he said, adding that innovation, a strong product portfolio and the willingness to embrace change are essential for continued progress.
SMC Managing Director and CEO Toslim Uddin Khan said transformation has been the driving force behind the organisation’s 50-year journey. “Beyond family planning, we have expanded our social development activities into multiple areas to improve the lives of millions of disadvantaged people,” he noted.
SMC Enterprise Ltd Managing Director Sayef Nasir told the conference that sustainable growth depends on adapting to rapid market changes. “We must evolve to remain relevant in an environment that is shifting faster than ever before,” he said.
Launched in 2014 as SMC’s commercial subsidiary, SMC Enterprise has played a key role in making the parent organisation self-reliant while supporting its development initiatives. The subsidiary has expanded its portfolio across several categories and established leading brands, including ORS products SMC Orsaline, SMC Plus and SMC Fruity; condoms Sensation and Panthar; contraceptive pills Femicon, Femipil and Norix 1; and hygiene and health products such as Joya sanitary napkins, Smile baby diapers and the Test Me instant powder drink.
The event was attended by former and current members of the SMC and SMC-EL boards. Popular singer Dilshad Nahar Kona performed at the ceremony, which was hosted by Dr Raiatun Tehrin and Sayem Jahangir.
