To ensure peace, order and security on the Jahangirnagar University campus, the university’s highest policy-making body, the Syndicate, has imposed a ban on all events after 10pm.
The decision was announced in an urgent press release signed by Acting Registrar Dr ABM Azizur Rahman on Saturday evening.
“In the interest of peace, order and security on the Jahangirnagar University campus, any event after 10pm has been banned until further notice,” the notice said.
It also warned that organisers holding events beyond the permitted time will face action under existing university regulations and state law. The statement further instructed organisers to keep noise levels within tolerable limits during programmes held before the cutoff time.
The university administration has called on all members of the campus community to cooperate with the restrictions.
