Bryan Brobbey struck a sensational acrobatic equaliser deep into stoppage time as Sunderland held Arsenal to a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light.
The hosts began brightly, determined to protect their unbeaten home record, and took the lead shortly before half-time through Dan Ballard’s close-range finish. Sunderland then held firm through nine minutes of added time to take their advantage into the interval.
Arsenal responded strongly after the restart, dominating possession and pushing Sunderland back. Bukayo Saka levelled the score from a tight angle soon after missing a clear opportunity, before Leandro Trossard fired a thunderous strike into the top corner to make it 2-1.
Just as the visitors looked set to claim all three points, substitute Brobbey outmuscled Gabriel and produced a superb scissor kick past David Raya to rescue a point for the Black Cats in injury time.
