Bangladeshi filmmaker Khandaker Sumon has been invited to serve on the international jury of the 6th Bogura International Film Festival (BIFF 2026), organised by the Pundranagar Film Society.
The three-day festival will be held from January 8 to 10, 2026, at Modhuban Cineplex in Bogura city, featuring 71 films from 32 countries competing across seven categories.
Sumon, best known for his acclaimed debut feature ‘Saatao’ (Memories of Gloomy Monsoons), joins Russia’s Anaskin Sergei on the festival’s international feature film jury.
The festival’s other panels include filmmakers, scholars and curators from Bangladesh, India, Iran, Nepal and Russia.
Festival Director Supin Barman said, “We are honoured to welcome Khandaker Sumon to our international jury. His vision and cinematic sensibility will add great value to this year’s festival.”
Before BIFF, Sumon served as a jury member at the Nepal International Film Festival, further solidifying his growing presence in South Asian cinema. His next project, ‘Mashan’, draws inspiration from myth and folklore.
Now in its sixth edition, the BIFF has become a leading cultural event in northern Bangladesh, bringing together filmmakers and audiences in a shared celebration of global cinema.
