Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assured on Monday that there are no security threats related to the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
“Additionally, 80,000 volunteers from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs will assist at the mandaps.” he stated after visiting the Ramakrishna Mission, Mission Para Puja Mandap in Narayanganj.
Jahangir Alam emphasised that each puja mandap across the country would be guarded by eight Ansar personnel and seven volunteers from the respective puja committees.
To ensure comprehensive surveillance, CCTV coverage will be installed at all mandaps for 24/7 monitoring.
He further mentioned that government forces would be deployed from 24 September, with the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and military personnel overseeing security measures to ensure a peaceful and festive celebration.
“So, there is no security concern. Durga Puja will be celebrated this year with due religious fervor, sanctity, and festivity,” he assured.
