At least 80 people suffered injuries in the capital while performing sacrificial animal handling on Eid-ul-Adha, officials said.
They received treatment at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) between 10:30am and 3:00pm on Thursday.
Hospital sources said around 20 of the injured were in serious condition and were referred to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital) for advanced treatment.
DMCH emergency department physician Collins Mollick said none of the injured were admitted to the hospital so far. Many received primary treatment and returned home.
He said some patients suffered injuries from kicks and horns of cattle. Others were injured while cutting meat, including cuts from sharp knives.
