Five people were killed in a collision between a BRTC bus and an ambulance at Shankarpasha in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur on Sunday morning.
Four of the victims were members of the same family.
The deceased were identified as Almogir Hossain, 58; his brother Jahangir Hossain, 62; their father Haji Abdul Wahed Molya; Almogir’s wife Khushi Begum, 45; and Jahangir’s wife Majeda Begum, 50. All were residents of Balia village under Mostafapur union in Madaripur.
Ambulance driver Kawsar Hossain, 22, son of Shahjan Matubbar of Madaripur Sadar, also died in the incident.
Police and locals said the accident occurred when a Barishal‑bound bus collided head‑on with the Faridpur‑bound ambulance.
Relatives said the family was taking ailing Almogir to Faridpur Medical College Hospital when the crash happened.
Police said the bodies were sent for autopsy and legal proceedings are underway.
