Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 488 people during regular raids across the capital in the past 24 hours.
Police filed 55 cases in connection with various incidents during the period.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by DMP Media and Public Relations Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mehedi on Tuesday.
According to DMP, among those arrested, 30 were from Ramna Division, 33 from Lalbagh, 47 from Wari, 61 from Motijheel, 59 from Tejgaon, 153 from Mirpur, 49 from Gulshan, 41 from Uttara, 10 by the Detective Branch and five in Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) operations.
During the raids, police recovered two foreign pistols, two magazines and 12 rounds of ammunition. They also seized 11kg of cannabis, 16,222 yaba tablets, a switch gear knife, two handcuffs, a toy pistol, an electric tracker, two walkie-talkies and a weight machine.
Police also recovered 19 mobile phones, 28 SIM cards of different operators, Tk1,400 in cash and rescued a victim during the operations.
DMP said the raids were conducted in different police station areas of the capital, leading to the recovery of the arms, drugs and other evidence.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is currently underway, it added.
