Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 428 people and filed 50 cases during regular drives across the capital in the past 24 hours.
Of those arrested, 28 were held by the Ramna division, 33 by Lalbagh, 86 by Wari, 65 by Motijheel, 45 by Tejgaon, 70 by Mirpur, 39 by Gulshan and 62 by Uttara.
Police said they recovered 18.25kg of cannabis, 2,120 yaba tablets, 353 bottles of phensedyl, three grams of heroin, eight mobile phones, a cap, a bag, a RAB identity card, three walkie-talkies, a pipe made from a Tk10 note for consuming yaba, a piece of foil paper with melted residue used for taking yaba, a black clay smoking pipe, a sharp iron cutter, a piece of wood and a vehicle from their possession.
The arrests were made during drives conducted in different police station areas of the capital, during which the drugs and other items were also seized.
Legal proceedings against those arrested were under way.
