A 30-year-old cyclist, Amin, was electrocuted and died after falling into rainwater accumulated on a road in Nazirabazar, Banshal, Dhaka. Amin worked at a bakery.
The incident occurred around 9:15 am on Monday at Jamai Goli on Kazi Alauddin Road near Nazirabazar Crossroads. Passersby found him unconscious and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at around 9:45 am.
According to witness Zisan, Amin was riding his bicycle along Kazi Alauddin Road when he suddenly fell into the water. Bystanders pulled him out using bamboo sticks and immediately took him to the hospital. Doctors, however, confirmed he had died.
Zisan added that an electric pole stands beside the road, and rainwater had accumulated overnight. It is suspected that the water became electrified from the pole, leading to the fatal accident.
Amin’s family is from Telisani village in Bhandaria Upazila, Pirojpur. His father is Md Badsha Mia. Amin was currently residing near Gate No. 1 of Hazari Bagh BGB area.
Confirming the death, Dhaka Medical Police Camp In-Charge (Inspector) Md Faruk said the critically injured young man was brought to the hospital by passersby, where doctors declared him dead. The body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
