Three more children have died with suspected measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 902 children were reported to have been infected with measles or related symptoms across Bangladesh, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest figures were released in the DGHS’s updated measles situation report on Wednesday afternoon.
The report said that although three children died with symptoms associated with measles, no deaths were confirmed as being caused by measles during the period.
Since 15 March, a total of 652 children have died after showing measles-like symptoms, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles infections. This brings the combined death toll from measles and suspected measles cases to 745 during the period.
In the past 24 hours, 106 children tested positive for measles, while 796 were reported as suspected measles cases. During the same period, 748 children were admitted to hospitals and 784 patients were discharged after receiving treatment.
DGHS data showed that since 15 March, the country has recorded 108,180 suspected measles cases and 13,070 confirmed cases.
Of the total patients, 91,270 have been hospitalised, while 87,628 have already been discharged after recovery.
