Three more people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 458 new patients were hospitalised during the same period.
With the latest figures, the total number of hospitalised dengue patients this year has risen to 13,098, while the death toll has reached 43. The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided these updates in its daily dengue report on Saturday.
According to the report, the highest number of new admissions was recorded in the Dhaka division (outside the city corporation area) with 172 patients.
Other divisional breakdowns include 99 in Barishal, 78 in Chattogram, 48 in Khulna, 26 in Rajshahi, 25 in Mymensingh, and 10 in Rangpur. No new patients were reported in the Sylhet division during this 24-hour period.
Regarding the latest fatalities, one individual was a resident of the Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation), one was from the Khulna division, and one was from the Barishal division.
The DGHS data further reveals that 1,118 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals nationwide. Of these, 251 are admitted to various hospitals in Dhaka city, while 869 are hospitalised in other regions of the country.
Since 1 January, a total of 11,937 patients have been discharged from hospitals after completing their treatment.
