3 dead in separate incidents across Dhaka

Three people, including a housewife, were found dead in separate incidents across the capital over the past 24 hours.

The deceased have been identified as Lamia Akter, 19, from Hazaribagh; Ayyub Ali, 37, from Lalbagh; and Bilkis, 26, from Kamrangirchar.

Lamia Akter was found hanging at her residence in Sonagazi, Hazaribagh, around 3:30am on Wednesday.
Her family rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she was declared dead at 6:45am on Thursday.

Lamia, who worked at a local beauty parlour, lived with her husband, Md Azman, on the third floor of a five-story rented building. Azman told reporters that the couple occasionally argued over family matters, and on Wednesday night, Lamia locked herself inside their room.

When she did not respond to repeated knocks, her husband forced open the door and found her hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.

In Lalbagh, Ayyub Ali, an office assistant at Eden Women’s College, was found dead at his residence on Atish Khan Road around midnight Wednesday. He shared the second-floor apartment of Rokeya Villa with two roommates.

Police said the roommates found the door locked from inside around 8pm and, after receiving no response, called the Fire Service. Responders broke the door open and found Ayyub hanging from a ceiling fan with a towel tied around his neck.

He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. Ayyub Ali hailed from Sujabad village under Shahjahanpur Thana in Bogura.

On Thursday evening, Bilkis, 26, was brought dead to a hospital from Kamrangirchar. Her father is Md Barek.
Police are investigating all three deaths to determine the exact circumstances..
