Three Bangladeshi nationals were killed and another was critically injured in a violent altercation among colleagues in Malaysia.
Local police recovered the bodies of three people from a house in Taman Linggi in Negeri Sembilan province, near the capital Kuala Lumpur, on Monday afternoon.
Citing Negeri Sembilan police, Malaysian newspaper New Straits Times reported on Tuesday that another Bangladeshi national was critically injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The identities of the victims and the injured person have not yet been disclosed.
In a statement, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police arrested a 40-year-old Bangladeshi man on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Police received information from local residents about a fight among several Bangladeshis at the house in Taman Linggi at around 4:15pm local time on Monday.
“A team from Linggi police station quickly reached the scene and detained a Bangladeshi man. Based on preliminary investigations, police recovered two bodies from Suya Mangis Estate in Linggi. Another body was later found,” Alzafny Ahmad said.
He said the three Bangladeshis died from severe injuries to different parts of their bodies, while another injured person was receiving treatment at Rembau Hospital.
Based on the initial investigation, Alzafny Ahmad said those involved in the clash were colleagues who worked for the same company and lived in the same residence.
“The incident is believed to have taken place at multiple locations. An investigation is underway to determine the actual cause of the incident,” he said.
The statement added that no previous criminal record had been found against the arrested suspect. He will be produced before the Port Dickson Magistrate Court for a remand application.
Police are investigating the incident as a murder case and are working to determine the motive behind the killings.
