Prime Bank, the sponsor of Bangladesh’s school-level cricket, has broadened its push at the grassroots by awarding scholarships to 25 emerging cricketers under the BCB’s development pathway on Thursday.

The beneficiaries were selected based on their consistent performances in the Prime Bank School Cricket tournament. Each will receive around Tk 120,000 in financial assistance to help cover their training and education expenses.

The announcement was made during the tournament’s jersey unveiling at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, turning a routine ceremony into a statement of intent about nurturing the next generation.

Prime Bank managing director Nazim A Chowdhury said the initiative reflects a longer-term vision rather than a one-off reward. National cricketers Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto, along with BCB chief selector Habibul Bashar, were also present at the event.

“We’re looking at sustainability here–identifying talent early and staying with them through their journey,” Nazim said.  “Beyond the financial grant, we will keep these players within a structured, year-long development programme, providing equipment and the kind of support system young cricketers often lack”, he added.
