Around 24.30 lakh students received textbooks under the Mosque-Based Child and Mass Education Project on the first day of the new year.
Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain inaugurated the Textbook Distribution Programme 2026 at the Islamic Foundation auditorium in Agargaon.
Under the Mosque-Based Child and Mass Education Project (8th Phase), a total of 34.36 lakh textbooks were distributed across the country to promote ethical and religious values.
Special assistants to Chief Adviser Professor Ali Riaz, Monir Haider and religious affairs secretary M Kamal Uddin spoke on the occasion as special guests while Islamic Foundation Director General Abdus Salam Khan was in the chair.
Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain highlighted the tireless efforts of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in passing the project, which aims to improve ethical and religious values. He also emphasised plans to transfer the project to the revenue sector in the future.
Additionally, Khalid mentioned that the Islamic Foundation would provide PhD scholarships for imams and religious scholars with a postgraduate degree in Islamic studies. Discussions are also underway for the recognition of the Qawmi madrasa’s “Dawra-e-Hadith” degree, with steps taken for appointing certificate holders as Khateebs, Imams, and religious teachers.
The adviser assured that all appointments, promotions, and activities would be carried out with full transparency, ensuring no nepotism or corruption.
Under this project, 1,45,81,200 individuals will receive religious values and ethics development training, alongside pre-primary education, including learning the Holy Quran.
