Two people have died of dengue in the past 24 hours, while 565 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country.
With these latest figures, the total number of dengue deaths this year has reached 386, and hospital admissions have risen to 95,577.
According to the dengue report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday, both individuals who died between 8am Monday and 8am Tuesday were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City areas.
November saw the highest number of dengue deaths this year, with 104 fatalities.
Before that, 80 people died in October and 76 in September.
In addition, dengue caused 39 deaths in August, 41 in July, 19 in June, three in May, seven in April, three in February and 10 in January. No deaths were reported in March.
Meanwhile, dengue hospital admissions by month were as: – January: 1,161; February: 374; March: 336; April: 701; May: 1,773; June: 5,951; August: 10,496; September: 15,866; October: 22,520; November: 24,535.
The DGHS stated that data on dengue-related hospitalisations and deaths have been collected since 2000.
From January to 31 December 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue cases were recorded, with 575 deaths.
From 1 January to 31 December 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, while 321,179 patients were admitted to hospitals.
