Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD), the exclusive partner of Monash College, celebrated the achievements of 178 graduates at its Annual Graduation Convocation on Tuesday.
The ceremony honoured students who successfully completed the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) and the Monash College Diploma (MCD) programmes, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys, reads a press release.
The convocation was graced by Nicholas McLean, acting high commissioner at the Australian High Commission, as the chief guest. In his address, he congratulated the graduating class, noting that education services have become a key driver of growth in trade between Australia and Bangladesh.
“As we look to enhance trade and investment, a key part of that puzzle lies specifically in higher education and vocational skills development,” McLean said. He further reiterated Australia’s commitment to supporting international students and ensuring continued access to quality education.
Executive Director at Monash College Tanya Perera attended the event as guest.
Expressing her appreciation for the graduates’ dedication, she said, “Standing before these graduates, I am deeply inspired by the dedication they have shown. Achieving this milestone requires immense perseverance, and these students have proven they possess the mindset and academic readiness needed to thrive on the global stage”.
As the exclusive partner of Monash College in Bangladesh, UCBD offers internationally recognised pathway programmes. These allow students to begin their Australian higher education journey locally before progressing to Monash University or other leading universities worldwide.
The MUFY framework serves as a direct foundation route for undergraduate entry, while the MCD is academically equivalent to the first year of selected bachelor’s programmes, enabling successful students to transition directly into the second year of their degrees.
Manas Singh, CEO of STS Group, observed that while shifting global regulations and stricter visa policies have introduced new challenges for international students, UCBD graduates continue to transition to Australia smoothly.
