Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance is set to announce its final seat-sharing decision on Wednesday.

Sources said the meeting will finalise the seat-sharing arrangement, while different parties within the alliance are holding executive council meetings from the morning, with the announcement expected in the evening.

Earlier, at 1am, Rashed Pradhan, Vice President and spokesperson of the Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA), which is part of the 11-party alliance, wrote on Facebook that the long-awaited final list of seats for the 13th national parliamentary election would be announced at 4:30pm on Wednesday.

On Tuesday evening, Khelafat Majlis held a meeting and said an urgent session of the central Majlis would take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, after which the party’s decision on the election would be announced.

The executive council of Islami Andolan Bangladesh also met on Tuesday evening, but the discussion continued until midnight without reaching a final decision.

Attempts to contact senior leaders of Islami Andolan regarding the matter were unsuccessful.

A source within the 11-party alliance said Islami Andolan’s meeting ended without a decision, adding that the party’s highest policymaking forum is expected to decide on Wednesday.

The source said that despite holding separate meetings and discussions with Jamaat on Tuesday, no final decision was reached.
