An agreement has been reached among 10 parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, to allocate the remaining 250 seats, reserving 50 seats for Islami Andolan Bangladesh. This alliance has been named the ’11-party electoral unity’.

Majibur Rahman Manju, president of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB), confirmed this information to TIMES of Bangladesh.

It has been announced that the candidate list for the 250 seats will be revealed at the Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital at 8pm.

To finally include Islami Andolan in this agreement through discussion, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis’s Ameer, Mamunul Haque, has been given the responsibility on behalf of the 10 parties.

Earlier, after a meeting on Thursday afternoon, while talking to journalists, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis’s Ameer, Mamunul Haque, regarding the participation of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, said, “Almost a maximum of 10 parties were present here, and we completed this meeting. We have spoken with the leaders of Islami Andolan. We hope that together, we will be able to present our final statements unitedly at our press conference at 8 PM.”

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Ameer Mamunul Huq explained that the top-level meeting was organised hastily.

He noted that while some communication gaps occurred because the decision had to be finalised quickly, representatives from 10 parties were present. He added that discussions with Islami Andolan leaders are ongoing, and they expect to present a united front at the evening conference.

Regarding rumours that Islami Andolan might be allocated 45 seats, Huq clarified that all specific details and the final candidate list would be disclosed at the press conference.

Addressing questions about potential internal instability or friction, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdullah Taher stated that the alliance is not facing any “trouble.”

He remarked that the current discussions involve some differences of opinion, which he characterised as normal rather than problematic.

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam highlighted the political significance of the unity, asserting that the alliance is not merely for seat-sharing. He emphasised that the coalition would contest the polls based on shared agendas, including reforms, anti-corruption, and anti-hegemony.

On the subject of nominations, Nahid further clarified that the alliance will support unified candidates across all 300 constituencies. He stated that candidates will no longer represent individual parties but will be candidates of the alliance, and all members will cooperate in the greater interest.
