Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam has announced that computer labs will be established in 1,000 educational institutions across country.
The minister shared this information on Tuesday afternoon during the question-and-answer session on the third day of the second session of the Jatiya Sangsad.
The session was presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram.
The announcement came in response to a query from Abdul Hannan Masud, MP for the Noakhali-6 constituency. The MP sought to know the minister’s plans regarding the establishment of computer labs in secondary and higher secondary schools in the coastal island of Hatiya, with the aim of expanding modern and technical education among the underprivileged students of that region.
In his reply, Anam stated that 13 computer labs have already been set up in Hatiya Upazila of Noakhali district. These labs were established under the ‘Digital Lab Establishment Project in Educational Institutions (Phase 2)’, which is being implemented by the Department of Information and Communication Technology under the ICT Division.
The minister further informed the House that activities are currently underway to revise the Development Project Proforma (DPP) to facilitate the establishment of computer labs in an additional 1,000 educational institutions nationwide under the same project.
