Ten members of a “teen gang” were detained on Wednesday night on charges of mugging and drug trading in Rayerbazar area of Dhaka.
The arrests took place between 9pm and 11pm during an operation in the area. They were identified as members of the “Patali Group,” said an officer from the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade of the Bangladesh Army.
The detainees are Shopon (30), Al Amin (22), Shakil (25), Muntaz (25), Mukhtar (23), Riaz (21), Imon (20), Limon (20), Akter (20), and Nayem (22), one of the group’s key leaders.
The officer said several local residents had called the Mohammadpur army hotline to report various criminal activities linked to the “Patali Group.”
“Based on their complaints, we conducted the operation. “After initial questioning, all of them were handed over to Mohammadpur Police Station for further legal action,” he said.
