The government has ordered the immediate deployment of 10 Ansar members to each Upazila Health Complex across the country to bolster security for medical professionals and patients.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a directive to Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party, instructing that the deployment be made effective from Wednesday.

In facilities where Ansar members are already stationed, their numbers must be coordinated to ensure a total of 10 personnel at every complex. A completion report is required to be submitted following the implementation of the order.

According to the directive, the annual expenditure for the salaries and allowances of 5,000 Ansar members is estimated at Tk119,37,38,750.

A proposal has already been forwarded to the Finance Division to allocate these funds under the specific budget code of Ansar and VDP, rather than through the health ministry’s allocation.

The letter, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Monirul Hasan, specified that the remuneration for the Ansar members will be processed through Ministry of Home Affairs, based on the consent of Health Services Division.

Copies of the order have been dispatched to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Health Services Division, and other relevant departments.

Officials noted that this initiative is designed to strengthen the security infrastructure of government health institutions at the upazila level.

The primary objective is to ensure a safe working environment for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff, while providing a more secure atmosphere for patients and their relatives to receive medical services.
