Police recovered 1.04 lakh yaba tablets in a special operation in Ramu upazila, Cox’s Bazar, on Saturday evening. A 65-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the case.
The raid took place in Moulovipara, Jouarianala Union, under Ramu Police Station, following a tip-off.
Ramu SI (Investigation) Mohammad Anwar, accompanied by a police team, carried out the operation at the home of the late Akhtar Kamal.
During the search, officers discovered the tablets hidden beneath a bed in the family’s residence.
The woman, identified as 65-year-old Mabia Begum, also known as Amena, the widow of Akhtar Kamal and a local resident, was taken into custody.
Ramu Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiya said, “The raid, based on confidential information, led to the recovery of a significant quantity of yaba. We have filed a case against the suspect under the Narcotics Control Act and are investigating the matter thoroughly.”
He added, “Anti-drug operations will continue, and those involved in such crimes will be brought to justice.”
