Bangladeshi actor Zayed Khan is set to perform at a Baishakhi celebration in the US state of Oklahoma, as part of festivities marking the Bengali New Year.
The event, scheduled for May 9, will feature a concert alongside a traditional fair organised by the Desi Youth Association Oklahoma. The programme has already drawn strong interest among members of the Bangladeshi diaspora.
Zayed Khan will share the stage with noted singers Samina Chowdhury, Parvez Sajjad and Bindu Kona, offering a mix of performances for the audience.
Organisers said the aim of the Baishakhi Mela is to introduce Bengali traditions to younger generations growing up abroad, while also creating a space for the community to come together. In addition to the concert, the event will include stalls featuring local products and traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
The annual gathering has gained popularity in recent years. Last year’s edition featured a performance by James, drawing large crowds.
This year’s line-up is expected to continue that momentum with a similarly vibrant programme.
