A 25-year-old man, Mehedi Hasan Apu, was shot dead in Jatrabari, Dhaka, over a suspected drug-related dispute.
The incident occurred around 11pm on Sunday at Jatrabari Kachabazar.
Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Raju confirmed the killing and said preliminary information suggests it was linked to a drug business conflict.
Police are conducting on-site investigations to gather further details.
The victim’s body was recovered and sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
The officer-in-charge noted that one of Mehedi’s leg arteries had been cut, and multiple injuries were visible on his body. His relatives have been informed of the incident.
Mehedi was originally from Jhalakathi but had been residing in the Jatrabari Kachabazar area.
Police are continuing their investigation and will release more details once available.
