Minister for Water Resources Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee has said that following the parliamentary election, there is no need for an oath for the ‘Yes’ vote.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday after paying tribute to Language Martyrs at Lakshmipur Central Shaheed Minar, Anee said, “The parliamentary election is over, MPs have taken their oaths, and the voting has been completed. In the referendum, ‘Yes’ has prevailed. Naturally, the bill will be raised in Parliament. There is no need for an oath for ‘Yes’. It automatically becomes effective.”
“This is the July Charter. In areas where ‘No’ votes were cast, the matter will be raised and discussed in Parliament accordingly. Any unresolved issues, including notes of dissent, will be addressed there. Legal experts have explained this clearly, and it needs to be communicated properly.”

Anee farther said, “The focus should be on how we can assist the government and sincerely work for the country. Differences of opinion may exist, but we must move beyond opposition for its own sake and collectively work for national progress.”
He also criticised disruptive protests, saying, “Those engaging in mobs should step back.” Mobs create disorder and obstruct nation-building. Everyone should act responsibly and support the government and the country. Anyone acting outside this framework will bear responsibility for their actions.”
The minister’s remarks came in the presence of senior BNP leaders, including District Secretary Sahabuddin Sabu, Joint Convener Hasibur Rahman, Sadar (East) Upazila BNP President Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, General Secretary Shah Md Emran, Lakshmipur Municipal BNP President Rezaul Karim Liton, and General Secretary Nizam Uddin, along with other party and affiliate organisation members.
