A woman and her 2 sons suffered serious burn injuries after her husband allegedly set fire to their house using a petrol bomb in Narsingdi town early Thursday.
The victims were identified as 36-year-old Rina Begum and her two sons, Farhad, 15, and Touhid, 7.
Local residents rescued them in a critical state and rushed them to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for emergency treatment.
According to Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the institute, Rina sustained burns on about 58% of her body, while Farhad and Touhid suffered burns covering 40% and 16% respectively.
“All 3 have been admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) for close monitoring and advanced treatment,” Dr Rahman said.
He added Rina’s husband, Karim, allegedly hurled a petrol bomb into their residence, leaving his wife and children gravely injured.
