Chattogram based Western Marine Shipyard is set to hand over three newly built landing craft vessels to Marwan Shipping and Trading Company Ltd of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The official handover ceremony will take place on Thursday, the company confirmed.
According to Western Marine, Marwan Shipping and TR Co LLC supplied all essential raw materials and machinery for constructing the vessels. Western Marine is receiving Tk 10 crore for each landing craft.
The three landing craft – Maya, SMS Emy and Muna were built in 2025. They are registered under the UAE flag and have Ajman as their port of origin.
Each vessel is 69 meters long, has a 4.5-meter draft, and can travel at a speed of 10 nautical miles per hour. These landing craft are primarily used to supply goods and equipment to anchored ships at port.

The handover ceremony will be held at 10am on Thursday on a vessel anchored in front of the Western Marine Shipyard in Patiya, Chattogram.
The event will be attended by UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdulla Ali Abdulla Khaseif AlHmoudi, as the chief guest, Abdur Rahim Khan, additional secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Administrator of FBCCI, and Ahmed Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi, Managing Director of Marwan Shipping & TR Co. LLC.
Western Marine Shipyard’s DGM (Commercial) Shahidul Bashar told TIMES of Bangladesh that in 2024, the company received an order from Marwan Shipping and Trading Company to build eight vessels of various types.
Of these, three vessels – including two tugboats – have already been delivered. After completing the handover of the three new landing craft, work will continue on the remaining two oil tankers, scheduled for delivery by 2026.
Western Marine Shipyard data shows that the company began exporting vessels in 2010. Since then, it has exported 36 ships of various categories to 11 countries, with an estimated total market value of $138 million.
Marwan Shipping and Trading Company Ltd received its first exported vessel from Western Marine in 2017.
