Bangladesh and Afghanistan Under-19 teams faced off in Bogura on Tuesday in the opening match of their five-match youth ODI series. Despite a five-wicket haul from Bangladeshi pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon, Afghanistan built a commanding total of 265 runs thanks to an unbeaten century from Uzairullah Niazi.
Winning the toss, Afghanistan chose to bat first. Their openers, Khalid Ahmadzai and Osman Sadat, put on 55 runs for the first wicket before both were dismissed in quick succession. Khalid scored 34 runs from 33 balls, while Osman made 15 off 26 deliveries.
As wickets continued to fall at the other end, Uzairullah stood firm. The right-handed batter reached a well-deserved century and remained unbeaten until the end of the innings. His 140 not out came from 137 balls and included 16 fours and one six.
Afghanistan concluded their 50 overs with a total of 265 for nine. For Bangladesh, Iqbal Hossain Emon was the standout performer with five wickets, while Rezan chipped in with two.
