The US Embassy has said it will refuse visa applications if applicants intend to travel to the United States solely to give birth for the purpose of securing citizenship for their child.
The embassy shared the information in a post on its verified Facebook page at around 9:30am on Wednesday.
The post said travelling to the United States with the primary aim of obtaining citizenship for a child violates visa conditions. If consular officers determine that the main purpose of travel is to give birth for citizenship, they will reject the applicant’s tourist visa.
The embassy added that such activities are not permitted under US visa policy. It urged applicants to clearly state their genuine purpose when applying.
It also warned that providing false information or violating visa conditions could negatively affect future travel to the United States.
