Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led Tehran’s delegation in talks with Pakistan, said the United States failed to gain the trust of Iran’s negotiators in the latest round of discussions.
He also said it is now time for the US “to decide whether it can earn our trust”, BBC reports.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said that Iran entered the talks with “good faith and will” but, given its experience of two previous wars, had “no trust in the opposing side.”
He said the delegation presented forward‑looking initiatives, but the US “ultimately failed to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation.”
“We will not for a moment cease our efforts to consolidate the achievements of the forty days of Iran’s national defense,” he added.
Ghalibaf described the negotiations as “intense” and expressed gratitude to Pakistan for facilitating them.
